JWM – Not Just Another Developer Site

Brothers and sisters, it is important to point out that just as Jedis matriculate from a wide variety of species so do the Jedi Web Masters. Some earned their titles through years spent slinging code like Force Lightning from their fingertips as Programmers and Developers. Others were Business Unit Leaders who shouldered the responsibility for managing a galaxy for their company working through design, traffic management, advertising, and change management. Still others have achieved Yoda like wisdom through their participation in the preceding 900 years of media development.

Ultimately what is important is not HOW you earned your Jedi Master title but what you are prepared to share with the Padawans that we are obliged to train.

Padawans become Jedis through instruction and a test called “The Trials”.  Interestingly “The Trials” were different for each Jedi and were intended to focus on the things that individual feared.

So with that having been said let me pose the first JWM Discussion Question:

When and how did you earn your Jedi Webmaster Title?  What were The Trials for you?

Remember if you are having difficulty with our vocabulary you can brush up here.

Welcome to Jedi Website Management

Welcome brother or sister.  You are now among friends.  Push the keyboard away, lay down your light-saber and take the time to recharge yourself and hone your Jedi Web Skills.  As the Master Jedi in these parts I wanted to establish a place where we could gather to discuss the trials and tribulations of managing our galaxies (websites) and maintaining the peace between our charges (customers) and those who would do their best to destroy our creations.

I hope that we can ultimately establish this place as a repository of best practices that we can wield to protect the incredible investment in time and talent that we have made in these one of a kind works of art.

We will sometimes be serious. many times be silly, but most of all I hope we have a good exchange amongst those in the Brotherhood of Web Masters.
